BCA member clubs taking members of the public on underground tours

For some months BCA has been involved in discussions with our insurers regarding providing PL insurance cover for clubs that take members of the public underground on tours or trips. (This is different to taking ‘prospective members’ underground, which has always been covered and has not changed.)

We apologise for the time taken to get a definite answer on this issue. We are aware this has caused significant issues for some clubs.

However we now have confirmation that our insurers are happy to cover PL risks for these tours for members of the public, as long as the clubs that offer them comply with certain guidelines.

Please see attached document.

If you have any questions/ concerns about the attached guidelines, or anything else, please get in touch by emailing:

Please note, as per the attached guidelines, groups that take members of the public underground will need to send certain details of the participants and trips to the BCA at the end of each calendar year.
